I am Rafael López, an English and Italian into Spanish translator with over 13 years of experience.

I specialise in audiovisual translation (subtitling and dubbing), localization (video games, apps, and websites), desktop publishing, graphic design, and web design.

My Expertise, Your Success

With over a decade of experience in audiovisual translation and game localization, I help your content reach Spanish-speaking audiences with clarity, authenticity, and cultural flair. From indie gems to global hits, I make sure nothing gets lost in translation.

Subtitling

Accurate, well-timed subtitles that preserve tone, emotion, and narrative flow—whether it’s a film, documentary, or series. I’m fully comfortable working with different style guides (including Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video) and a wide range of subtitling tools, so technical specs are never an issue.

Dubbing

Lip-sync and voice-over scripts that feel natural and are ready to be performed in the recording booth. I translate scripts for all types of content—from films and documentaries to series, short films and reality shows. I’m flexible with formats and tools, whether you need delivery in Word, Excel, or specialized platforms like Timely Script or InqScribe.

Localization

Whether it’s an indie passion project or a AAA blockbuster, I localize games for both direct clients and agencies. From UI and item names to lore and dialogue, I craft immersive Spanish experiences that resonate with players.

DTP & Design

Multilingual desktop publishing and layout checks to ensure your visuals look just as good as your words read. I’ve worked for years as a DTP Specialist for translation agencies and I’m familiar with most layout software, including InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Affinity. I also have in-depth knowledge of DTP workflows within CAT tools like Trados Studio, memoQ, and Phrase.

Featured Projects

With 13 years of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a diverse array of projects, adapting my skills to translate all kinds of content. From immersive RPG games to spine-chilling horror films, captivating children’s series, insightful documentaries, and dynamic sports video games — I’ve learned to stay true to the essence of each project. Below, you’ll find a gallery of standout projects, each reflecting my approach to clear and faithful translation.

Beyond the Porfolio

Since 2014, I have been co‑founder of Traduversia, an online training platform for translators with over 20,000 users.

I founded httrans, a set of free web apps for translators released in 2025. It drew a lot of attention thanks to its practical features — and its charming panda-inspired look. 🐼

I’ve been a regular speaker and trainer at translation conferences — both in Spain and abroad — since 2012.

I’ve published papers on my areas of specialization in academic journals and research books.

From 2012 to 2020, I regularly published content on audiovisual translation, localization, and other translation-related topics on my blog Jugando a traducir.
